Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test
Purpose:  A measure of student reading, mathematics, writing, and science skills.

AP Exams
Advanced Placement Exams
Purpose:  Possible college credit and placement in college
Optional, but strongly recommended for students registered in AP courses.
Available to students in grades 9th-12th.
These tests are administered in May, typically off campus.

AP Exam Schedule (2010):

PLAN
Interest and aptitude test used to assist in educational and career planning.
Practice test for the ACT college admission test.

Strongly recommended for all 10th grade students.
This test is administered in the fall at BHS.
The plan is free for students (paid for by the state).

PSAT
Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test
Practice test for the SAT college admission test.
Qualifies Juniors for National Merit Semi-Finalists
Strongly recommended for academically talented students
Offered to 9th, 10th, and 11th graders (only 11th grade scores count for National Merit)

This test wil be administered on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at BHS.  Students should arrive at 7:30am.  The exam will be conducted from 8:00am to 11:00am.  There is a $20 fee
and registration begins at Open House, September 15th.  After that date students may register for the PSAT in the Guidance Reception Office (Room 2-006).  LAST DAY TO REGISTER IS Tuesday, October 6, 2009.

ASVAB
Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery
An interest and aptitude test to assist students with career planning.
Includes the Interest Finder (IF) interest inventory.
This is an optional test, but is required for students planning to enter the military.
This test is administered to students in 10th/11th grade on an appointment basis.
This test is free and is given in the fall at BHS or at Recruitment Centers.

CPT

College Placement Test
Purpose:  To determine placement of students within colleges' curriculum
Required by some colleges for admission or placement in classes.
This test is for 12th graders or students wishing to dual enroll in 11th grade.

Free for Santa Fe College (SFC) applicants
This test is offered at SFC on a walk-in basis:

   -Monday-Thursday 8am-6pm 
   -Friday 8am-2pm.

PE Waiver Exam
The Personal Fitness/PE Waiver Exam will be given in December 2009, and April 2010, on dates and times to be determined.  Students must letter twice at the junior varsity/varsity level (same sport or two different sports) BEFORE you are eligible to take the exam.  The Coach Verification Form is available from Mr. Timmons, the Guidance Secretary, and must be completed and returned to him to get on the list.
