WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF GUIDANCE
Our Mission:
The BHS Guidance Program works alongside the school’s mission and is designed to focus on the developmental needs of students. We provide skills, competencies and knowledge in the areas of academic, career, and personal/social development. Our focus is on each student reaching his or her potential and achieving academic success. Counselors are available to help students through large group (classroom) guidance, individual counseling and by collaborating with teachers and families. The Guidance Counselors at BHS work closely with other Student Services staff, including the school psychologist, the ESE staffing specialist, the Deans and the nurse.
Please do not hesitate to set up a meeting to see your student's Guidance Counselor for any help. For parent/teacher conferences please allow 48 hours notice to inform the teachers before a meeting. Most parent/teacher/counselor meetings are held at 7:45 A.M. Please note that the best way to get information about your student's success in the classroom is to contact the teachers directly, preferably via e-mail.
Parents/Students: To make an appointment click here.
2nd 9 weeks Report Cards will be sent home with students on Wednesday, February 1, 2012
Important Dates & Announcements
Parents of seniors:
Please be aware that certain bills passed in the most recent session of the Florida Legislature impact the Bright Futures, FRAG, and ABLE scholarship programs. A significant, new requirement for graduates is that parents/guardians/students must complete the FAFSA application prior to the disbursement of funds. Information about the FAFSA and how to apply can be found at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
**The Parent Portal gives guardians access to their students' electronic records and is now available at BHS. Information about the Parent Portal and the Parent Agreement Form are available at the District website. Please complete the Parent Agreement Form (but do not sign) and bring it along with a valid Florida picture ID to the Front Office for processing.
**Service hours can be documented on the form below or on the letterhead of the organization for which the service was performed. All hours must be submitted to the Guidance Office or Registar. Service hours submitted to clubs, honor societies, etc. DO NOT automatically transfer to the student's record.
